In 2015, the City of Boise adopted new shared values and kicked off an internal engagement strategy to empower City teams to work cross-departmentally to create a Lasting, Innovative and Vibrant city.
Mayor Bieter challenged city managers and all employees to take a fresh look at the City’s work culture and to rededicate themselves to putting the following values into practice every day: ONE CITY, ONE TEAM—FOR THE GREATEST GOOD, CITIZEN EXPERIENCE WITH ‘WOW’, and THERE’S NOTHING WE CAN’T DO BETTER. “If we want to continue to be an innovative organization that delivers services and products that better the lives of our citizens, then we have to build a great internal culture,” said Human Resources Director Shawn Miller.
A determining factor in the success of the organization, the City’s shared culture will help highlight its people and what they do with the goal of:
- Improving Boise
- Recruiting and retaining talent
- Increasing talent density
The City of Boise’s shared organizational culture is one in which people are genuinely excited and proud to serve our great city. Sharing the organization’s vision, mission and values can positively affect the lives of Boise citizens and drive day-to-day and long-term decision-making. This keeps the City pulling in the same direction and focused on the same outcome – Making Boise the Most Livable City in the Country.
As a result, Boise routinely finds itself leading national top lists, for just about everything. Check out these great honors here.
