“Phase two of the J. A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation Boise Whitewater Park will arguably be one of the biggest recreation game changers in Boise," said Doug Holloway, director of Boise Parks and Recreation. "When you combine phase two with phase one, with Quinn’s Pond upgrades, and with Esther Simplot Park, there will be nothing like this aquatic complex in the nation.  None of this would be possible without the generous donation from our partner, the J. A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation.”

With the expansion of the Whitewater Park, several amenities and features will be added to the park:

  • 3 new structures in the river
  • New pedestrian trail
  • Native re-vegetation restoration and habitat islands
  • 3 take out areas and shoreline access
  • Portage pathway
  • New main Greenbelt route
  • Accessible dock and fishing pier in Veteran's Pond
  • Overlook plaza with spectator seating
  • Wading areas
