The 4 Best Places to Take Your Dog in Boise

As Boiseans, we are lucky to not only have recreational areas and foothills right in our backyards, but plenty of places for our most loyal companions as well - our dogs.

Here are our top four best places to take out your pup for some exercise and fresh air.

1. Boise Trails

There are several on-leash and off-leash trails within Boise's trail system. As always, it's important to clean up after your pet's when using these trails to keep them clean for everyone to use. If you're not sure where to start, you can view this list from Ridge to Rivers.

2. Fenced in Dog Parks

If trails aren't your jam, there are also fenced dog parks in Boise where you can let your pup run free. It's also a great way to socialize them with other dogs and people. Check out our newest dog park, Morris Hill.

3. Off Leash Dog Parks & Areas

Parks & Recreation has 4 parks / areas that are off-leash for dogs year round. Other parks have a dedicated, off-leash season in the winter. You can see a full list of available off-leash parks here.

Looking for a place to take Fido to cool off? Redwood Park offers off-leash hours and a pond.

Make sure you know the rules and regulations on off-leash dog areas before you go.

4. The Greenbelt

Our famous, 25-mile paved walkway is a great spot for a quick walk with you and your furry friend. Please note that dogs are required to be on-leash at all times while on the Greenbelt. And please, don't forget to clean up after them!

Please note, there are some parks in Boise that have restrictions on dogs, with exception to service animals. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer, get some exercise with your pooch and explore all that Boise has to offer!
